Very Very & onE20 at The Cosmic Ballroom

A heads up for TouchSoul friends One20 and Very Very over in Newcastle this weekend, who are putting their heads together for a Friday bash at The Cosmic Ballroom...

Tokyo co-habitants Very Very & one20 will combine their inimitable styles to create an exquisite blend of deep disco and warm house. A combination of beats guaranteed to keep you cozy, as Autumn draws in.

The Cosmic Ballroom's first floor boudoir, will play host to this one off event, a suitably clandestine backdrop for some decidedly sexual rhythms. Both the atmosphere and dance-floor will be rich with goodness...

Very Very & one20
Friday 2nd October
Cosmic Ballroom
Stowell Street
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
10.30pm – 4am

Kashif - Lover Turn Me On (Simon Busby Edit)

Another as yet unreleased edit, courtesy this time from Simon Busby (Glitterball ) with his rework of the 80's disco funk from Kashif. Although the original's still great, get this at special request download from either myself or Simon over at his SoundCloud page, for a thicker, DJ friendly, dancefloor killer edit. Just leave a comment below for mp3 or message Simon from the link below...Enjoy.

First Touch - Jelly's Drop (Unreleased)

Sleaze funk beats all the way with this great track from First Touch. Recently posted over at Soundcloud, and as yet unreleased. Check it out down here...

Brass Meets Keni - Physical Attraction (Barna Soundmachine Edit)

Brilliant, dirty remix here courtesy of Barna Soundmachine and as yet unreleased. This particular track had stood out for me on one of the ace mixes posted to the SoundCloud page. And at request was very kindly uploaded for me. Sweet 80's boogie beats chopped with disco funk, building to a great Prince/P- Funk style climax...Check it out and a selection of other nuggets below.

ReEdit

A slight rebranding to the blog logo which I've been wanting to do for some time now, although I'm not doing much by way of design as I just dont have the skills. Gone for just simple text and what's been done to death, but still looks okay if done right, used a relevant image. In this case, Stevie, although i'll probs change it from time to time, for event posters/flyers etc...

Imagination - Burnin' Up

Guaranteed dancefloor mover here from 1981, courtesy of Imagination. Here is the original version, rather than the, in my opinion, inferior dub versions found elsewhere on the web. Get with some classic piano boogie groove with an uptempo direction...

Don Blackman - Heart's Desire

Some late night groovin from Don Blackman with this bass funky number. If a need of some night time style beats then get this while waiting for Jobfinder to come on.

Sade - Make Some Room

A lovely track from a remix album released in 1992. Warm keys and sparse beats, with sade vocal samples. Link below, for listen or download, was posted over at FunkClassicMaster. Really loving this at the minute and well worth a check for all the deep heads out there...

Erykah Badu - Honey (Souled Remix)

Blissful rework of the Erykah Badu track here from Souled. Ideal early doors beats from the guys who've recently done some top edits and remixes on their Fresh Minute label. Check them out on Facebook at the link below...

Carol Williams - Can't Get Away (Inst)

Released on the Vanguard label in 1981, here is some special disco funk from Carol Williams. I've posted the instrumental version. It was re-edited a few years back by SpiritCatcher, going under their Only Freak monicker and released on Freerange Records. Enjoy the original beats...

Prince - Let's Work (12" Extended Mix)

Thought i'd repost this as an mp3 file. Being a huge Prince fan for many years, I've always found it difficult to find the right tracks to fit in when playing. Although he's got literally hundreds of decent tracks to choose from, it's mostly the poppier numbers that get requested. This is a stripped down dirty funk track from 1981's underrated "Controversy" album. Here it is in its extended 12" version.

Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait (Re Edit)

A great new edit of the Nu Shooz soul disco hit from 1986 and taken from the album "Poolside". Here it stripped of most of the vocals concentrating on the backbone of the track for most of the way. This edit is done by Motion XL. Get on it and enjoy....
